QUETTA: The mother of imprisoned Baloch Republican Party (BRP) Mir Abdul Wadood Raisani and herself a prominent activist of the Baloch nationalist movement was killed and five other members of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons were injured in a road accident on RCD highway near Surab on Friday.
Official sources said a vehicle carrying relatives of missing persons overturned near Surab Tehsil of Kalat district. The mother of Mir Abdul Wadood Raisani, who had actively participated in all protest rallies and demonstrations of Voice for Missing Baloch Persons died on the spot.
The injured in the accident also included Nasurallah Baloch, chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, an organization striving for the recovery of missing persons, and other members of the organization i.e Abdul Qadeer, Asmat Baloch, Amanullah and Agha Gul.
The injured were shifted to district headquarters hospital Kalat for treatment. The condition of the injured is stated to be out of danger, hospital sources said.
“We were going to Karachi from Quetta to appear before the judicial commission, which was formed to trace out missing persons,” Nasurallah told journalist at hospital.
The mother of Wadood Raisani was buried at A Kalat graveyard in the presence of scores of supporters of the Baloch movement. She was a respected figure among the political activists for her commitment to the cause of Baloch rights at a very old age. She spent the last days of her life in striving for the recovery of the missing persons.
